Natural Beauty

Hi Crafty Friends.....this week is another crazy week in the wonderful world of Kim....I'm gearing up to take my Section 2 of my CPA Exam....eeekkkk....next Wednesday is coming up toooooo fast!  Although I am feeling a little bit better about the topics in this exam vs. the last one.  Hopefully that means something good!

Since I didn't get a chance to play with my Natural Beauty Collection by Carmen Medlin for SCACD that much I decided to use one of these beauties...
When I saw Naturally Styled I immediately thought of making a bridal card.  This shabby chic card would be perfect for a bridal shower....or even for a wedding card!   Papers are from the Melissa Frances 5th Avenue Collection....I absolutely {heart} these gorgeous papers!!!
Naturally Stylized has been colored with Copics.  The white on the dress has been accented with my Crystal Glamour Dust paint.  I love the multi-color sparkles in this beautiful paint!!!
Flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  Arrangement consists of a 35mm Trellis Rose, 20mm Roses8mm semi-opened Roses, 4mm Closed Rosebuds, Hip Roses, and Gypsophilas.  If you look closely you can see that the Hip Roses have been inter-twined into some gorgeous Raffia Ribbon.  I've used the cream raffia on my card, Wild Orchid carries raffia in a wide selection of colors....make sure you go and check them out because they are GORGEOUS!  Then I took some vintage findings to accent my flower arrangement.
The cream panel behind my stamped image has been hand stamped.  Isn't that medallion image beautiful?!  I used the My Mind's Eye Stella Rose stamp set and my rich cocoa memento ink to create this beautiful background.
Here you can see a close up of the raffia ribbon.  Also you can see how I used my zutter paper distresser and crackle paint to create my shabby chic look.
And finally an angled view for the dimension.  The beautiful bow was created with 12mm (1/2 in) silk ribbon and a 10mm Rose from Wild Orchid.  Sentiment is a Kimmie's Everyday Sentiments from Kraftin Kimmie stamps.

I can't seem to find the list of my Copic Colors that I used on this beauty.  I will try to find the list and update this post. :)

**Shopping New** Make sure you head over to SCACD and check out all the amazing new products that Susana has recently gotten in at the store....there is LOADS of new paper....eeeekkkk....I am in total awe over all the beauty there!  She also got in the brand new Kraftin Kimmie stamps!!!

Peeking In to Say HI!

Hi Everyone~

I hope you are enjoying your week....good news it's the weekend!! YAY!!  I hope you all are controlling your PEEKER FEVER by purchasing your very own The Peeker #2 Collection by Elisabeth Bell for SCACD?!?!  I can tell you that I totally am controlling my fever by creating with this cuties!  Today I am sharing my creation using Secret Garden Peeker!  Make sure you grab a cup of coffee, tea, or hot cocoa, as this post is a bit lengthy....hee hee
Seriously I am soooo in love with all of these adorable Peekers!!!  Miss. Secret Garden Peeker is so cute, I love how she is so shy, but yet wants to hop on over the fence to go and play with her friends!  The papers I have used on this cutie are the gorgeous and oh-so-stunning Kaisercraft Blae & Ivy!  OMG if you haven't ordered yours yet you sooooo need to get this pad...I love the elegance and beauty in each and every sheet in this pad!  And it has to be good if I love it and there is NO pink in it! LOL!  Susana has some AMAZING new 6x6 paper pads in too....you best go and order your favorites now before they are sold out!  Click -->here<-- to go and see what I'm talking about! :)
Sweet Garden Peeker was colored with Copics and accented with my pastel pencil.  I airbrushed the sky around her.
The moment I saw this adorable Peeker I knew that I wanted to make a shaker card with her (Kylie has an amazing tutorial that I followed)!  The scene of this stamp is perfect to add some Green German Glass Glitter (80 Grit) mixed with some Kelly Green German Glass Glitter (100 Grit) ...have you seen the German Glass Glitter that Wild Orchid Crafts carries...oh my word....this stuff take glitter to a WHOLE new level!  The sparkle this glass glitter gives is totally out of this world....so much more sparkly that regular glitter!!!  I'm totally in love!!! WOC carries this is many colors and in medium and fine grit levels...which also mix very well together!t

To make the shaker part of my card:
1.  I cut my colored image out with my Labels 1 Spellbinder Die.
2.  I also cut out a piece of acetate using the same die that I used in step 1.
3.  I took my designer piece of paper and my Square Spellbinder Die and cut out a square. *Make sure that you leave enough edge around the square because you will also be cutting out the Label 1 again over top of the square.*
4.  Now with the same piece of paper that you have from Step 3 with the missing square in the middle, take that Labels 1 die again from step 1 and place the die over the square opening (see I told you that you would be using this piece of paper again :)  When you cut this out it will give you the deisgner paper  frame.
5.  Now Glue/tape (I used scor tape because it holds the best, in my opinion) your acetate piece to the back side of the frame that you just made in step 4.
6.  Now you will place foam tape all the way around the back side edges of the frame, do not leave any gaps. (If you leave gaps then you will have glitter all over when you shake your card.)
7.  Pour your glitter into the middle of your frame on the acetate.
8.  Attach your colored image to the foam tape.
9.  Finally, shake and look at the beauty you just created!

Now back to the contents of the card:
The lace is also from WOC!  This is actually two types of the lace at the store.  The top layer with the blue edging is White Kniting Lace with Baby Blue Edging which is layered on top of some Wide White Guipure Lace.  The bow is created with some gorgeous silk ribbon and my Bow Easy...Gotta love being able to get the perfect bow every time!  The corner was accented using a decorative metal corner...I so love the elegance that these add!
My flower arrangement was made using Wild Orchid flowers that consists of:  25mm Rose, Cherry Blossoms, 15mm Roses, the green 15mm roses are the moss green roses from the classic colour collection (love the beautiful deep color of these!), 5mm closed rosebuds, and Gypsophilas.  The beautiful crochet butterfly is NEW Venise Lace at Wild Orchid...these appliques are stunning!!!  I then added some gorgeous self adhesive pearls to accent this beauty as well as the sentiment on the card (sentiment is from Kraftin Kimmie)!  Foam tape was used to pop up the wings to appear that the butterfly has just landed on the card.
From here you can see all the dimension of the card! :)  I hope you have enjoyed this cutie!  I can't wait to see the beautiful shaker cards you all make now!!!  Please drop by and leave me a link to your shaker card...I'd LOVE to see what you create!

MAMM #3 - Inka Gold & TonerTex

Hello again Friends~

WOW can you believe it's already the first Monday of the month?  WOW where did summer go huh?!  Sorry it' now Monday night....I ended up going to our town parade this morning and then to the carnival again for a while....then had to come home and do homework and now I can finally post some fun for you!!!

Sooooo since it's the 1st Monday of the Monday that means it's MAKE A MESS MONDAY over at SCACD!  Today Marti and I are showcasing the wonderful Viva Decor Inka Gold!  Don't let the name fool you...Inka Gold comes in MANY colors!!!  A little bit about Inka Gold....it is a creamy metal gloss paint that is very easy to apply.  Inka Gold can be applied to many surafces including paper, wood, polymer clay....it works best on absorbent/porous surfaces.  It's fast drying and once dry can be polished to bring out an even glossier shine.  When dry the finish is like a metallic gloss!  I love this stuff!!!!
First I took a wooden box....no primer needed.....then dipped my fingers into my Violet Inka gold jar and start rubbing the paste all over the box.  Normally when I use acrylic paint to paint wood it takes many many many coats....BUT with Inka Gold it only took ONE COAT to cover the whole box completely!  The paste spreads super easy, and if you don't want to get your fingers dirty (although it washes easily off with soap and water) you can use a foam brush to paint the paste on.  Once the paint is dry you can then take a paper towel and rub in circular motions to buff the paint which will leave a glossy shine!  Seriously this stuff is awesome!!!!
Next I decided to try using the Inka Gold in the context of a card!  I used the Viva Decor Inka Gold in Steel Blue for my next project!
For this card I've once again used my Kraftin Kimmie Arianna stamp set!  DP is once again from the fabulous Prima Fairy Flower collection.  The ocean scene that Arianna and her seahorse friend are popped up on is made using some WONDERFUL VIVA DECOR products!!!

Arianna, seaweed, and Mr. Seahorsy were colored with Copics and accented with a white gel pen. For their awesome ocean I took a plain piece of white cardstock and covered it totally with Viva Decor Inka Gold in Steel Blue.  The wonderful thing about the Inka Gold is that a little bit goes a very long way!  After the Inka Gold dried on my paper I then took my Viva Decor Champagne Modeling Cream with just a teeny tiny bit of Dreamweaver Eye of Tiger Mica Powder.  Then I smoothed the modeling cream over the bottom portion of the paper, after the modeling cream was smoothed on I grabbed a paint brush and dabbed the edge of the brush all over for the textured effect.  Then I took my stencil brush, dipped it in the Eye of Tiger Mica powder, held the brush over my paper and tapped the edge of the brush so flecks of the mica powder fell on the modeling cream for the specks in the sand.  And voila you have one beach scene!  How cool is that?  And VERY easy to do!!!
Flowers are from the fabulous Wild Orchid Crafts!  Arrangement consists of a large 35mm Wild Rose, two 25mm Hybrid Tea Roses, two 15mm roses, and two 10mm roses.
From this view you can see all the bling and sparkle to this magnificent mermaid!  Arianna has some gorgeous sparkles in her hair thanks to my Sakura Star Dust pen.  The amazing bling on her fins and tail are thanks to my TonerTex Pen and Foils. The foils are so easy to use and there are amazing and fun patterns you can get along with solid colors.  I'm hoping you can kind of see the metallic of the Steel Blue Inka Gold from this view too!

Now make sure you go and get your FUN Viva Decor Inka Gold to play with!!!  :)

**NEW PRODUCT ALERT** Susana has recently gotten a very unique crafting product in!  It's a line called Epiphany Crafts and these are indivudal tools where you can make your own customized buttons and epoxy bubbles (you know...the ones like Prima makes with the cute designs)...now you can make YOUR OWN  and they will match your creation PERFECTLY!  How awesome is that?!  Make sure you go and check these out...I think they are TOTALLY reasonable in price!  I sure can't wait to get my order now!!!

TIOT #82 - Three Things from SCACD + A Stamp

Hello Friends~

It's Thursday....and that means it's my 1st day of school!  Ahhhhh....where did my short summer vacation go?!  At least this should be my LAST YEAR in school....Woo-Hoo!!!!  The count down is on!!!  Yippy!!!!

Thursday also means it's TIOT over at SCACD!  Today Suzanne has challenged us to use 3 products from SCACD & a stamp too!  Ooooo I think I went a little over board...used way more than 3 products!  I can't wait to share some of the NEW products with you!!!

I decided to make an Underwater Themed Card using one of the KKS from the Mermaid collection, this cutie is Arianna.  Isn't she adorable?  I figured since summer is coming to an end I would ink up this beauty before the leaves start to fall.  I've used papers from K&Company Jubilee collection!  Viva Decor Turquoise Pearl Pen was used in the upper left hand corner to get the custom size pearls I needed.
Arianna has been colored Copics and accented with a white gel pen.  Then I've used the BRAND NEW TonerTex Pen and Glitters on Miss. Arianna's tail and fins!  OMG you sooooo have to get one of these...it makes applying glitter so easy and with little mess!  Suzanne has a fab video -->HERE<-- showcasing this fab product!  Check it out if you haven't already!  You can also use this pen to add beautiful foils to your products!  I have projects coming up using the foils!!!  Now I'm hoping you are wondering how I created my water scene behind Arianna.....well this is a combination of Dreamweaver Metallic Gold Embossing Paste mixed with Eye of the Tiger Mica powder to get this fun warm sand.  After I mixed the two together I just smoothed it on my white cardstock to dry.  The water is created using Viva Decor Precious Metal in Blue Lagoon, which is a metallic paint that I just applied to the cardstock as well....and Voila one water scene created! :)  The scene is then popped up on top of the Brand New SB Beaded Ovals!

Now for these fun seashells....aren't they so stinking cute?!  Love them!  They were made using the Dreamweaver Scallop Stencil.  I mixed Dreamweaver Metallic Gold Embossing Paste with Glacier Mica powder to get this beautiful blue-green color and it shimmer golds as you turn the card! Absolutely gorgeous!  Then I grabbed my TonerTex Pen and glitters again and edged all the seashells to give them some bling!

I hope you've enjoyed my sample today!  I lost count....but I'm sure it's WAYYYYY over 3 products that I've used for you! Hee hee!  Hope you all have a wonderful day and for those of you in the US I hope you have a wonderful Labor Day Weekend!  Our town hosts a huge celebration all weekend so we will be busy with all of that.  Hubby and I work the annual car show every year....so that will be my whole Saturday...but no school on Monday because of labor day....yay maybe I can get some crafty time in then! :)

TIOT 77 - Swan Princess Fun

Hi Friends~

I hope you are all doing wonderful!!!  Only 3 more weeks left of my summer school class!  YIPPY!!!  One more paper to go + one presentation and then I'm DONE....get a couple weeks off and then fall classes start!  Bummer that my time off is so short...but getting this hard class done during the summer really will be a blessing!!!  Also I'm so pumped and looking forward to CHA this next week!  This is the first time I am attending so I'm seriously jumping out of my seat with excitement!!!  Looking forward to meeting many of my blogging friends and of course the fun getaway is a blessing too!

It's Thursday.....Are you ready for another TIO*T*?!  I'm very excited to share my creation with you today!!!  Not only have I used one of my brand new fairytale Kraftin' Kimmie stamps (which Susana now has at SCACD)....combined with the challenge this week I think this turned out amazing!  Don't you love when your creations turn out just as you have pictured in your head?  This week Suzanne has an awesome sketch challenge for us!
Here is the brand new Swan Princess and the sentiment even comes with her along with a cute swan and rose accessory stamps...this mini set is definitely worth the money!  When I saw this card that Elaine made I knew I had to have this beauty!  I've used Kaisercraft Gypsy Sister papers oh how I love this paper collection...I think these papers and colors scream "Kim!" LOL!
Here's the wonderful sketch that Suzanne has made for us to play with!  I hope that you will play along with us!
Swan Princess has been colored with my Copics, I used mainly BG colors and added B52 for a blueish tint to the teal/greens.  I've added eyelashes with my Copic Multiliner to make her look a little more girlie (after I saw my DT Sister Aud do this on one of her cards....thanks for the inspiration hun!)  This beauty has been cut out with the Oval and Scalloped Oval nesties.  The famous "Crissy Armstrong Dot Shadow" has been made with colors from the princess' dress.
Flowers are a mixture from Wild Orchid Crafts.  The large 35mm Wild Rose started off white and I airbrushed it with my Copic ABS again using the colors from Swan Princess' dress.  The 20mm roses are from the Purple/Lilac Floral Foundations pack.  The small roses are 10mm white roses that also have been airbrushed.  To finish off the flower collection is a white Gladioli Stem that too has been airbrushed.  I've added star dust stickles to the Gladioli stem for some extra bling!
Finally I have another angle to show you of Miss. Princess.  I've added Illuminate Smooch to her wings for even more bling!  I hope you have enjoyed my card!  I hope that you now head over to the SCACD Blog to check out the amazing creations my DT Sisters made with the sketch!

Happy Birthday Cupcake!

I got my new Kraftin' Kimmie stamps so I am soooo excited to play along with the girls in their challenges now!  Even though I only have 2 Kimmie stamps for now, they will have to do! :)  This week the Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge is paper piecing.  I have used Francesca....I so love her with all of her cupcakes!  I have paper pieced her lovely hat...oh how I wish I had a fun hat like that! It was my Grandma's birthday Sunday  so I thought it was perfect to use this cutie for Gram's card!  I've used the sketch over at Friday Sketchers for my layout.

Papers used are the NEW BG Sugar Rush which you can find over at Embellish!  Just click on the link in my sidebar to go and shop!  These papers in this collection are so fun and versatile....so much more than just Valentine's.

Francesca was colored with my Copics and Spicas.  The Spicas were added to the tops of the cupcakes and candles.  Thanks to Lillian I found a new hair color combo!  She used E30 and E00 on her post here.  When I saw her post I knew I had to give that hair color a try!!!  I have added E35 to Lillian's combo for my Francesca.  I love this combo for a fun dirty blonde look....it's more subtle and soft than what my normal hair colors are so it's fun to have a new combo!  Again, her hat was paper pieced.  I added Star Dust Stickles to her scarf, belt, and trim on her dress for extra sparkles.

I used my new MS deep edge floral lace punch, but then I stamped out 6 cupcakes (the cupcake image comes with Francesca), colored them with my Copics and Spicas and put them in place of the flowers of the punch.  As you can see from the picture I popped up every other cupcake with a dimensional.

Then I carried the layout through to the inside.  Barb has some amazing deals going on over at Embellish!  Click my DT blinkie in my sidebar to go and take a peek!  Make sure you tell her that I sent you! :)  There is also a DT CALL going on right now at Embellish!  Click -->here<-- to go for all the details.
