Happy Hunting

Here in Wisconsin we are right in the middle of Blaze Orange Season....otherwise known as Deer Hunting Season.  I had made a gun shaped card for my father-in-law for his birthday so I thought now would be a great time to share :)
My hubby and father-in-law like guns so when I was brain storming for a birthday card for my father-in-law I was wondering if it would be even possible to attempt to make a gun shaped card.  I asked my hubby what type of gun FIL liked and my hubby found the below picture on the internet for me:
Now I'm a total girlie girl and know NOTHING about guns.....So with this pictures printed off of the internet I set out to try and make my card.  I was sooooo excited with how the finishing product turned out!
The only items I used to make this card were black and brown cardstock, foam tape, pastel pencils and a metal screw brad.  There are many layers that have been popped up to make my gun appear realistic.  The shading to make the gun appear metal was done with pastel pencils in black, gray, and white on black cardstock.  And the handle was brown cardstock with the same shading from pastel pencils and the  brad to finish it off.
And here is what the inside of the card looks like.  I used my silver pen to write the message.  Don't you just love how when you have an idea in your head and it turns out even better when you are finished?  I hope you like my shaped card.  I would love to hear your comments on it!

To all my friends in the United States, I hope that you have a:
Very Blessed Thanksgiving!
I am so thankful for all my crafting friends in blogland!  You all mean so much to me!

P.S.....you might want to make sure you stop back here this weekend....
I have a feeling there might be some candy involved! :)

Grab the banner on my side bar and place it on your blog, because one lucky winner will win a FREE stamp set of their choice from the Fall/Winter release or the FULL Valentine Digi Release. Don't forget to sign your name with Mr. Linky -->HERE<-- so we can easily find you. Want to win today's NEW digi set? Carl just left the flower shop but they are out until tomorrow. Collect the flowers on the DT blogs and then email us your answer.  Carl found 5 flowers on my stop along the way:

AND here is the third digi set being sampled!  It's called Be My Valentine - Carl. It has 3 images and 6 sentiments.

As soon as I saw Carl I knew I wanted to make an action card.....better known as a shaker card, but I wanted a shaped card too!  Soooooo....I got out my heart nesties and went to town!

I used Carl for this set.  It was a challenge to shrink him down small enough to fit into my SU treat cup.

Here you can see the treat cup better, although my MS heart confetti decided that it was going to cling to the cup.  Darn it!  I still think it's a cute card though.

This view is a little bit better so you can see Carl the Cutie!  Of course he was colored with my Copics.

For the inside I used the same MS heart punch that was on my card yesterday.  I used another of my conversation sweethearts from the Be My Valentine - Cuppy Digi Set, which was colored with my Copics.  Then I punched 2 small hearts with my Marvy punch.  A simple but cute inside...IMO.

Don't forget to see what the other girls have created!  Their links are in my sidebar!

Happy New Year!

It's hard to believe it's already a new year!  WOW how times sure does fly!  I want to wish all of you a happy, healthy, and successful 2010!  I've made so many wonderful friends since I began my blog back in 2008!  Thank you all for taking time to stop by my blog and seeing my creations; and even more for leaving your kind words, they truly make my day! :)

Today I am sharing a WOJ creation with you!  This is the New Years card that I made for my hubby.  I'm entering this in the Stampin' for the Weekend Challenge (that is to create a New Beginnings theme which mine is New Years!); Stamp With Fun, and Everybody Art Challenge which is to make a New Years Card also!

I've used Charlie and colored him to look exactly like my hubby! :)  While I was creating this I actually was calling him Brent instead of Charlie!  Yes...I'm strange and talk to my stamps and images as I create!  I've used DCWV All Dressed Up dp and cardstock.  The shiney silver paper that the dp squares are adhered to is American Crafts Specialty Foil paper in silver.  My Fleur De Lis pendant was used for the background of Charlie.  I used shimmery DCWV black paper (from the Le Creme collection) for the pendant.

Charlie was colored with my Copics.  I used my Black Spica for the pinstripe on Charlie's pant legs and also for his bow tie.  I used my Silver Spica on the bow tie as well.

I used the smaller die from the Fleur De Lis pendant set, cut them in half and used them for the corners on the inside of the card.

Flying By to Say Merry Christmas...

The countdown is dwindling...Christmas is almost here!  Are you all ready to celebrate?  Well I'm finishing my shopping tomorrow...have to go to the Harley Davidson dealership to finish shopping for my brother.  Today I am hoping to wrap most of the presents and to make some sugar cookies (the dough is already made...just need to roll it out, cut into shapes, and bake!)

Today I have a fun card to share with you!  My Uncle called me the other night and asked if I could make a special Christmas card....of course my answer was YES! :)  My Grandma's cousin's husband was in the Air Force in his younger days and my Uncle found a picture of the plane that he flew in the Vietnam War.  My Uncle was wondering if I could make a card with this plane and somehow have a Santa sitting on top of the plane.  This got my wheels turning.....and here is the end product:

I am very pleased with how it turned out...I'm taking it over to my Uncle today, I sure hope he likes it.  I used my digi Santa from my Stamps and Smiles Christmas Eve set.  I shrinked him down to fit in my plane...used my Xacto Knife to carefully place Santa in the cockpit of the plane.  The papers I used are from My Paper Studio.  Snowflakes were made with my MS punch and Marvy punch.  I added Star Dust Stickles to make them sparkle.

Santa was colored with my Copics.  I used my Spica Black and Spica Gold on Santa's belt for some shimmer.  I used my Spica Red and Clear on the candy cane Santa is holding.  Added liquid applique to the trim on Santa's hat and coat.

Then I used my bow easy to create the red bow.  After attaching the bow I thought the top of the card needed a little something more.  That's when I added the cream colored branches and used my Versamarker to color the edges of the branches, and added my Ranger Gold embossing powder to achieve the little extra that the card needed.

For the finished inside I carried the same papers through.  On the left side I used my MS snowflake punch.  On the right side I used my Nesties Labels One for the spot where my Uncle can write his sentiment! **DON'T FORGET: Spellbinders are on Sale at 7 Kids TODAY ONLY!!!  Check out my post -->HERE<-- for all the details!

I hope you enjoyed this Santa flying by to Wish You a Very Merry Christmas!

Happy Birthday Cuttlebug Challenges!

Cuttlebug Challenges is celebrating their birthday all month, and you really need to pop on over and check it out! They have some amazing challenges and GREAT prizes you can win! This week DT member Danni, who is also on the Embellish DT with me is the host! And Barb from Embellish has kindly donated this week's prize! You so don't want to miss that!!! You can read about it HERE!

Danni's challenge is to create a card and bag for a birthday! This was perfect as it was my father-in-law's birthday on Monday so I had to make a card for him!

I just love the Cosmo Cricket Early Bird Collection! These papers are so bright and fun! Not colors I normally play with so getting out of my comfort zone can be scary but in the end is always so much fun! I tried to make this card manly (which is difficult for me) but I think I pulled it off pretty good. I stamped the trees with Momento Rich Cocoa and then clear embossed them for some shine! The edges of the labels 4 are decorated with cinnamon stickles. And I finally got time to play with my Spellbinders Ribbon Tags.
The finished inside of the card...with my new Studio G Birthday Stamp! I love the swirls on this one!
Then I made this cute bag to go along! It's a Lauren Meader Timeless Template! I have purchased many of her templates, but haven't gotten time to play with them yet. After playing with this one I can't wait to play with more of them! Lauren you are the bomb girl!!!

I was going to put my father-in-law's restaurant gift certificate in here until I showed my creation to my hubby who said it looked like a purse! Scratch that idea, I guess....so I kept it for somebody else! I did add Baby Breath Shimmerz Spritz to all of the papers here for an added sparkle! I love the look that this spray gives, it's so beautiful!
