Basic Grey Challenge #23 - Color Challenge

This week is the week for color challenges (which I love)! I decided to choose the color combo Pink and Brown for the Basic Grey challenge this week! No surprise there huh?! :) Since I needed a bookmark for my women's literature class I decided to get out my WOJ Melinda reading book stamp (that you can get from Loreen at Wish On A Scrap)! I got the bookmark idea from Inge! She makes the most adorable projects and when I saw this bookmark and tutorial that she made a while back I couldn't help but save it for future reference.

I colored Melinda with my Copics and used Shimmerz Blingz in pixie dust on her wings. I used the Bittersweet papers from Basic Grey which reminds me that I need to get another packet of these papers as they are my favorite! Punches used were of course Martha borders punches and my SU round tab punch. Lace is a new purchase from Joanns. I also used my new curved rectangle nesties with my corner grunge stamp (I used momento rich cocoa on the pink cs and dazzling champagne versamark on the chocolate chip cs). Ribbon, and eyelets are from my stash.

And here is the back of the bookmark! I really like how this turned out and now I can't seem to put my book down!

Photobucket

Hope you all have a fabulous day and thanks for stopping by!

I am off to work on a literature paper that I have due next week! :(

CBCC #27 - Color Challenge

This week we have a color challenge to share with you over at Created by Courtney. These were VERY fun colors to use!The sketch I used was by Jacqueline over at Friday Sketchers (I definitely know I will be using this sketch again)! Of course I used one of my new Tilda stamps, colored her with my Copics. I used my Janome Sew Mini again and think I might just be getting the hang of sewing on paper now (especially since I didn't even know how to use a sewing machine...I haven't used one since 8th grade)! I used my new label nesties (that I got from Wish On A Scrap) for the panels behind Tilda. The corner swirl stamps on the panels are from my Stempelglede grunge collection! I used Shimmerz Blingz in pixie dust on Miss. Tilda's letter. I didn't have any cream/very vanilla colored primas, so I took some white ones that I had and colored them with my Copics to make them match my very vanilla CS. I then painted them with Shimmerz Blingz pixie dust to give them their shine and sparkle. Used my Martha branch punch. Ribbon, spacers, brads and flower rhinestones were from my stash.
I carried the design from the front of the card into the inside. I used another grunge stamp for the edging on my very vanilla CS. It is textured cardstock so when you stamp on it you get a very cool effect! I love how it turned out!

And for the back of my card I used my handmade stamp on very vanilla and stamped my circle grunge stamp around on tempting turquoise.

I hope you that you all decide to play along! Make sure you head over to Courtney's blog to leave the link to your creation for your chance to win a surprise! Head over to my side bar and check out what my fellow chickies have made! Can't wait to see what you create with our color challenge!
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your week!

Magnolia vs. Stampavie - Week 14

YAY...I am so excited that I got to play along this week with the Magnolia vs. Stampavie challenge....I love their challenges (school work just had to wait today...ha ha).....I got my creation done just in the nic of time! Woo-Hoo! This week was a color challenge, you needed to use chocolate chip, old olive, not quite navy, and bashful blue. Seeing how these are colors I normally don't use it made my brain think hard.....but I did have fun and found some new favorite colors to play with! I love it when that happens! Since I love to follow sketches when I create, I headed on over to the fabulous Katharina's blog and found THIS sketch to use as my starting point. Katharina makes the best sketches!!!

For this card I used Valentine Tilda who was colored with my Copics (real surprise huh?!). I got out my handy dandy Janome Mini Sewing machine for this card.....I just love that thing.....thanks mom and dad for the fun toy (they got me it for christmas)! Used my nesties (nesties and Tilda were purchased from Wish On A Scrap)! DP is Creative Memories, and cardstock is SU and textured CS from my stash. Flowers, ribbons and charm also from my stash. Used my Martha punch for my leaves. The small flower on the bottom was painted with December Sky Shimmerz Blingz for some extra sparkle.
Here's a close up of Miss. Tilda so you can see the coloring!
Then here is the inside....I decided to carry the sketch through to the inside of the card...can you tell I went crazy with my sewing machine today?!
Hope you are all having a fabulous weekend! We are getting some snow here today so it's a good day to stay inside and craft....tomorrow is homework day....ICK!
Thanks for stopping by!

CBCC #26 (FINALLY!)

OK...sorry for the LONG delay everyone! My hubby has some back problems so I had to take him to get an injection on Tuesday so I didn't get time to create....then yesterday was school all day.....But have no fear....I did finally (whew!) get my creation done! By now I am sure you all headed over to Courtney's blog and saw that this week's challenge is to stamp with bubble wrap! How fun does that sound?! I loved it! It gives such a unique impression! If you haven't tried this technique yet you have to do it!
I am also using this as my entry for the Roses On Paper Love and Friendship challenge, and for the Friday Sketchers challenge which was to use this sketch! I used Tilda with Tag and colored her with my Copics...I left her tag blank as I don't know what I will use this card for yet. :) I used purple metallic acrylic paint on my bubble wrap for the background design on the heart. Then I sprayed the heart with pink taffy glimmer mist (that I got from Loreen at Wish On A Scrap.) Papers, ribbon, and flowers are from my stash. Used my heart nesties and my new Martha heart lace border punch.
Here's the inside. I used two Martha border punches and overlapped them, added some purple rhinestones. Used my new Retro flower punch with my Stempelglede grunge flower stamp, then added some pixie dust Shimmerz Blingz for sparkle!
Here is a close up of the Blingz sparkle! Isn't that so pretty? I just love this stuff!

And here is the back. I used my EK Success Swirl punch and another of my new handmade stamps.
Thanks so much for being patient and waiting for me to get this creation done and for all of you who sent get well comments for my hubby (they are GREATLY appreciated)! If you haven't checked out the other chickies creations make sure you do that. They are listed on my sidebar!
Also, I have a few blog candy's to share with you! Jacquie, Bev, Rach, and Nikki all have some fabulous goodies up for grabs. Make sure you go and check them out and while you are there check out these ladies work! They are just fabulous artists and make some amazing projects!
Enjoy the rest of your week! I am off to water aerobics tonight! Or as my hubby says...I am off to swim like a dolphin! Boys....I tell ya! Hee hee!

CBCC #24 - Valentine for Mr. Right!

This week Courtney's challenge is to create a masculine Valentine....seeing how I still had to make my hubby's Valentine card I thought this was the perfect challenge to complete that task!

I have to thank my dear friend, Lena, for the Hanglar image. She sent me the most adorable handmade keepsake box FULL of Hanglar images! Lena you are such a sweetheart and I treasure my gift from you! Thank you so much! Lena has pictures of my keepsake box on her blog, please stop by her site and see her amazing work, it's stunning!!!! She also has some fabulous blog candy going on right now too!

I colored this little Hanglar with my Copics! I just got another set of them from Loreen at Wish On A Scrap and I so love them!!! Cardstock is SU, DP, ribbons, and foam hearts are from my stash. I used my Martha leaf punch, Fiskars heart border punch, and my new heart nesties.
The finished inside: I used one of my $1 stamps from Michaels, stamped it with real red SU ink, and then used my angel wing Shimmerz over the top of it for some shine! Also used my heart corner punch.
And I am sharing my finished back with you all today! I got a brand new "handmade" stamp that I am loving!!! I stamped it with versamark dazzle in champagne and momento cocoa ink. The shimmer it has to it is awesome (too bad the picture doesn't show it)! You can click on the picture to make it bigger to read my saying!

I really like how my non-traditional Valentine turned out! I wasn't quite sure how the colors would look, but I was pleasantly pleased! I think my hubby will even like this one! Hee hee!

Don't forget to head on over to Courtney's blog and link your masculine Valentine and please check out my fellow chickies creations. You can find their links in my side bar. This week is our dear friend Sarah's last challenge as a chick, we are going to miss you Sarah, but wish you all the best!
OK, I have to get back to studying and researching, glad I got a small break to craft! :)
Happy Tuesday! Thanks for stopping by!

CBCC #23, Friday Sketchers & A Spoon Full of Sugar!

Thank you to everyone who sent me well wishes! My migraine is gone! YAY! So without further ado here is my entry for this week's CBCC! I am also using this as my entry for this week's Friday Sketchers sketch challenge! Bea (from Megahobby) created a fabulous sketch to play with! You can see Bea's sketch HERE! And this also is my Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge which the theme this week is Love is in the air!

I used my beautiful WOJ Melinda Hugging Heart! I colored her with my Copics! I added Shimmerz Blingz hottie pink to the ribbon on the heart, and Blingz pixie dust to her wings! Used my nesties for the oval and scalloped oval behind Melinda. Then I took a white dolie and sprayed it with my Glimmer Mist in Pink Taffy and Iridescent Gold. I used my corner punches and swirl punches. DP is K&Co. Flowers, spacers, charm and ribbon are from my stash! Most of my supplies and tools were purchased from Wish On A Scrap.

Here is a close up so you can see the Shimmerz on Melinda's wings and the ribbon on her heart! If you look close you can see the shimmer on the swirls (leaves) by the flowers. I used Blingz Hottie Pink on the red swirls which made them look like a dark pink, and on the passion pink swirls I used my Blingz in Pink Poinsettia which gave them a real nice shimmer.
Then we have the finished inside. I used my Fiskars heart border punch....are you getting sick of seeing it yet? More K&Co. paper and some foam hearts for a little bit of spice!
I am off to read some more of my book for my Women in Literature class! We are reading The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood....it's not to terrible of a read either! Hope you all have a fabulous week! Don't forget to sign up for my blog candy if you haven't done so already!

WOJ Challenge #15

First off I want to thank everyone for the well wishes for my hubby! Today is the first day he is actually feeling better...so I got a little time to play today, after cleaning all the germies out of our house! And luckily enough (knock on wood) I haven't gotten sick! Hopefully it stays that way! Tomorrow my semester starts at school so homework will be consuming a lot of my time...but I am sure I will be able to still squish in some play time....somethine has to keep me sane and give me a break from all of the numbers!

This week over at the WOJ Challenge blog there is a sketch by the fabulous Katharina! I always like to use Katharina's sketches to make my cards!!! Here is my take on the sketch! I got this fabulous WOJ Herb in Love from my great friend Loreen! She has the WOJ stamps available for purchase at her store, Wish On A Scrap. Papers are from my stash...some are so old I don't even know where they are from anymore....ooppss, you can't tell I love paper can you?! I used my Janome Sew Mini that I got from Christmas from my parents! After a little bit of trouble trying to put the bobbin in....we were in sewing order! I had so much fun with it...I can only imagine you will get sick of seeing sewing on my cards! ha ha! I also used my Fiskars heart border punch, prima and hemp twine from my stash. My new Valentine ribbon...I think one is from Joanns and the other is Michaels.
Here is a close up of my snowpeople! Aren't they just adorable? I colored them with my Copics, and then added some Shimmerz Blingz in pixie dust for some glitz and shine! I am a total girlie girl and love sparkles! (If you click on the picture it will make it bigger so you can see the Shimmerz sparkle!)
And of course we have the finished inside! Used my nesties as I did on the front! I took the scalloped circle and ran the piece through my Cuttlebug in my d'vine swirls folder to add a little bit of dimension! Then added some foam hearts....and my masterpiece was complete!
I hope everyone has a wonderful week!
**Don't forget to sign up for my blog candy!
You have until the end of the week to enter!**

CBCC #22

This week Courtney put together a very fun sketch for us to play with! Here is the sketch:I decided to make my card a Valentine card. I used WOJ Teenage Lizzie with Box of Chocolates (which I purchased from Wish On A Scrap) and colored her with my Copics (of course! hee hee!). Papers are SU cardstock (pink and brown), and dp is K&Company. I stamped some small hearts on the brown cardstock with my Versamark Dazzle in Champagne (they really do sparkle and look pretty...the picture doesn't do them justice). Also used my new Fiskars heart punch, ribbon, and foam hearts that I bought on my shopping excursion the other day. I don't like how the picture turned out....as I had to use my Ott Lite to take the picture. It looks way better IRL!

And of course we have the finished inside:
Make sure you go to my side bar and check out what the other CBCC Chicks have created!!! I hope you all decide to play along with our fun challenge! When you finish your creation make sure that you link it to Courtney's CBCC #22 post!

Magnolia vs. Stampavie Meets Friday Sketchers

This week over at Friday Sketchers is a fabulous sketch done by my friend Mumur! She does fantastic work...if you haven't gone to her blog you NEED to go and see her amazing work! Mumur's sketch was so much fun to play with!

Here's the sketch:
I tweaked the sketch just a tad....put the flower/flourishes on the opposite side otherwise my ribbon covered my pretty dp! The Magnolia vs. Stampavie challenge this week was to use a bow on your card! In this past week's SCS newsletter Pam Bassett showed her tutorial how to create a ribbon blossom! I have never done this before so I thought I would challenge myself to use it in this week's Magnolia challenge! I do think for my very first ribbon blossom it turned out pretty cool!
This card was created for my Mom's boss's birthday today! I colored Tilda with my Copics (of course). Cardstock was in my stash, dp is Deja Vue, I used stickles on Tilda's wings. Ribbon, flower, and jewels are from my stash. Remember Loreen at Wish On A Scrap sells the Magnolia stamps!
I carried the dp through to the inside. I used my martha punch and my corner punch (from Wish On A Scrap....gosh I really love these punches), and added one of my special angel charms as a finishing touch.
My Mom called me tonight and said her boss absolutely LOVED the card! That makes me feel so good when people treasure one of my creations!
Tomorrow is CBCC day....so make sure you come back to see my surprise for that!

It's Still Cold!

We are still dealing with some cold weather (only in the mid-teens for our high temperature) here in WI! Brrrr! Today we got 6 inches of snow! YUCK! I am so ready for spring! But since we are still dealing with winter I thought it would be fun to make something with my WOJ Herb stamp! I got this wonderful stamp from Wish On A Scrap....and it makes for a great Christmas or winter theme gift/card.

A few years ago I started getting snowmen for my Mom to collect....so twhen I saw this stamp I knew I had to make something for her with it! I stamped Herb on some white tissue paper and colored him with my Copics. Then I used my heat tool and wax paper to adhere Herb to the candle. Added some stickles, snow on the bottom, along with flowers and snowflakes from my stash.
And here is a picture of the candle in the dark! This isn't your "normal" candle....this is a safe candle (seeing how my Dad doesn't care for real candles)! It's an LED light inside so you just flip the switch to turn the candle on or off! The most awesome part is the candle still smells like peppermint!
Your creation never dies with a candle like this!!! You can enjoy it forever, by just changing the batteries!
Thanks for stopping by, hope you are having a great weekend! Make sure you check back tomorrow as I will have some "candy" up for grabs!

WOJ Challenge #13

WOW...it's already been 13 challenges over at the WOJ Challenge Blog! I know I haven't gotten to play with all of them....but the ones I do I always have lots of fun creating! This week was a sketch challenge by Heather. I love playing with her sketches!!!

This card was created for my mom's co-worker's birthday! My Mom chose Melinda Blowing Kisses for me to use on the card! I colored Miss. Melinda with my Copics (first time I used green as my main color...and I LOVE how it turned out...Gee I sure say that a lot lately...don't I?)!!!! I used star dust stickles on Melinda's wings and hearts. Papers are Deja View, DCWV, and SU cardstock. Ribbons, spacers, and brads, are from my stash. Flowers are spare parts. The angel charm is handmade by me! The first time I ever used one of my angels on a card!
Here is the finished inside. Used the same floral Martha punch as on the front of the card. Flowers are from my paper pack.
Sorry the pictures seem washed out! It was already dark when I got done creating so I had to use my Ott Lite!

Remember you have until midnight tonight to get your entry in for our Wish On A Scrap 1st Challenge! The WOJ Lizzie with her chocolate box is getting ready to head to her new home!
Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!

Magnolia Vs. Stampavie Challenge 8

I want to thank everyone who sent me congratulations and best wishes for my "Chick Status" (if you haven't seen....my exciting news post is below)! It means a lot to me to know everyone cares! I am very excited to create for Courtney! Thanks again Courtney for asking me to join the peeps!

This card goes along perfect with today's post! Over at the Magnolia Vs. Stampavie Challenge blog this week's challenge was a sketch challenge....but there is a small twist! You need to make your card a Thank You card....so this is for each and everyone of you out there who support me, inspire me, and challenge me! You are all treasured friends!

Here is this week's sketch: I decided to use my Tilda with rose that I got from my Secret Angel in the Magnolialicious Yahoo Group! Thanks again Lisa! I absolutely LOVE her! I colored Tilda with my Copics, added stickles to her wings and lace on her dress. Then I used some pink perfect pearls and painted on top of the rose for some extra shimmer! It gave the flower a beautiful irridescent effect! Papers used were Dovecraft from the Hint of Pink pack, DCWV, SU cardstock, and some clearance papers that I got from Michaels.

Flowers are primas. Lace, beads, and charms are from my stash. Punches used were the negative from my Heart Corner Punch (from Wish On A Scrap), and my Martha floral boarder punch which I made into cute corners. I got this idea from one of my idols, Suzanne! You can see her awesome idea here! She is so creative, and her work is absolutely amazing! If you haven't gone over to her blog, click on over there and take a look. You won't be disappointed!

And if you take a close look at my charm, you will see it says Thanks! I thought that was a perfect touch!
Then of course we have the finished inside! I think this is my favorites inside done so far!

Sugar Bowl Challenge #1 & BIG NEWS!

At first I didn't think I would be able to play along in the Sugar Bowl Challenge....but then I remembered a few months back Gayle sent me some wonderful Sugar Nellie images to play with! Thank you so much Gayle! I so need to purchase some of these stamps so I can continue to play along. I really wanted to play along with this challenge as the prize is 3 sets of Promarkers! I would so love to get my inky hands on those! :)

This image is called Pickin' Apples. Isn't she just darling?! I had lots of fun coloring her with my Copics, and of course I added some stickles to her bow and hat. Highlights were made with my white gel pen. I used glossy accents on the apples, even though it hard to see it in the picture. Papers are a combinations of Basic Grey Euphoria, Creative Memories, and some scraps from my stash. Of course I had to use my corner punches (if you would like to get some, head on over to Wish On A Scrap)! I really do love them! I got some new spacers the other day, so I had to use one on my flower. Flowers, charm, and ribbon from my stash.
And the finished inside! I really like how the inside of this one turned out! Wish me luck on this challenge...I would LOVE to have some more markers to color with!

This is a card that I made for my near and dear friend Liz! We have been friend's since grade school! Her Grandfather passed away last week, and his funeral service was Friday night. It was somewhat of a blessing, as he had Alzheimer's bad, but it is still so hard to lose a family member. I was glad that I could be there to comfort my friend. I wanted to share the card that I made for her.
I used Basic Grey papers from the Wassail collection, and just red and black from my paper stash. Corner punches and Fiskars boarder punch were purchased from Wish On A Scrap. The "with sympathy" was stamped and embossed with Ranger embossing tinsel in silver. Ribbon is from my stash!

And of course we have the finished inside!

Don't forget to head over to the Wish Blog to enter for your chance to win a Whiff of Joy Lizzie with Chocolate Box stamp in our VERY 1st Challenge! You have until Sunday, January 11th to enter!

Magnolialicious January Sketch

This month over at Magnolialicious the Miss. Suzy Haglighi made a very fun sketch to play a long with! I loved all of the circles on it! That way I could incorporate lots of different patterned papers into my card! My papers are DCWV, Creative Memories, and SU cardstock.

I decided to use Standing Fall Tilda that I purchase from Loreen at Wish On A Scrap. I also created this card for the Wish Challenge that is going on RIGHT NOW, you can find the details HERE! The Challenge is running until January 11th, so go and check it out!

Tilda was colored using my Copic markers, and I used stickles on her wings! Ribbons were in my stash along with the charm, spacer, and heart brad. Flowers are Petaloo which I also got from Wish On A Scrap's November kit....yes, I am still using elements from the November kit! That is seriously how much stuff you get in the kits! It's amazing the stuff you get for your $25!
And of course we have the inside of the card! I used my martha floral lace punch, and my Fiskars treading water punch!
I really like this card....must be because I used mainly pink and brown....of course we all know that is my favorite color combo!
Hope everyone has a WONDERFUL week!

Pixie Dust & Fairies!

I hope everyone had a great New Year's Day! We were lounging at our house today, after having a late night out with friends! I am looking very forward to 2009, and can't wait to see where my creations take me! :)

This week over at Sketch Saturday there wasn't a specific sketch to follow, any past sketch could be used. I thought I would use #27, shown below: My Basic Grey Eva papers were perfect to use with this fun fairy....her name is Bryony. I purchased her from Susana. Isn't she beautiful! I colored my cute fairy with my Copics, and I loved coloring her! I actually stamped her twice. On the 2nd image, I cut out her body, leaving her legs and wings off. Then I pop dotted that up to make it look like Bryony was leaning forward off of her mushroom. I added diamond stickles to her wings for some sparkle!
Ribbon, flowers, and charm were from my stash. I used my corner punch and swirl punch (which acted as leaves for my flowers) that I purchased from Wish On A Scrap.
Of course we all know that I love decorating the insides of my cards now too! Here I used more Basic Grey Eva papers, with the same corner punch as on the front of the card, and also my martha boarder punch. I decided to leave the note part of the card blank for now, as I don't know what occasion I want to use this card for...this way it can be altered as needed.
I love how this card turned out! Thank you for taking time to stop by!

Happy New Year!

This week at Magnolia vs. Stampavie there was a sketch challenge! I just love sketch challenges...if you haven't noticed! :) However, I was trying to figure out how I was going to interpret this one....I didn't have 3 Magnolias that I liked all together to use in each window (and I don't have any Stampavie stamps....YET...hope to in the near future...hee hee)....but I have Tilda with Vine and Basket that I thought would make a SUPER cute New Years card! Over at A Spoon Full of Sugar and Everybody Art Challenge their challenges were to make a New Years card so this was going to be perfect to use for all the challenges!

Here's the Magnolia vs. Stampavie sketch created by Donna.
And now for my interpretation of the sketch! I decided to rotate the sketch. Tilda is colored with my Copics which both are purchased from Wish On A Scrap. The red paper is Bo Bunny, and the black is some more of my wedding invitation paper left over. Ribbons, primas, brad, and spacer is from my stash. Tilda is double pop dotted to stand up off of the card. And the middle panel "New Year" is pop dotted up. I love all the dimension of this card! Wish I could share the 3D-ness with you!
And of course couldn't get away without decorating the inside of the card! Again paper is left over from my wedding invitations! I just love that paper....it's a very thick black card stock with lots of shimmer to it! I'm going to be sad when it's all gone! Good thing I still have a few pieces left to play with!
I want to thank everyone who comes and visits my blog and leaves such wonderful comments! I have met so many wonderful people from all over the world in the past 8 months, and I am so happy to call you all friends!
Sending my wishes to everyone for a happy, healthy, successful, creative and inky 2009!
